Let me start by saying I am a 24 year old female who is a first time home buyer. Needless to say, the idea felt intimidating to be looking for a place. After all, where do I start?!
I approached my uncle (who has years of experience buying and selling homes) and he immediately referred me to his realtor, John Coffman Jr. From day one, John was always on top of things in a quick and efficient manner. He outlined starting points for me, and asked lots of questions to narrow down what I was looking for.
I never felt intimidated by John. I'd say this is because he is not a typical pushy, aggressive sales person trying to make a buck. John was very patient, thorough and understanding to me and my needs. I was never afraid to ask the questions I had (which I had many). He left no questions unanswered and if he didn't know the answer, he was upfront about it. Immediately, he was making calls, leaving messages, researching, and finding answers no matter where, or who had to be contacted.
Above all, I find that John is the very definition of honest. His straightforwardness and honesty as a person/realtor was evident throughout our time looking through houses. One example: Even before we got to the front door of a house, John was ready to tell you what was good and what was bad with it- from the signs of a house showing indication of having termite treatments, to the idea of me trying to get furniture around strange angles, to how well the electricity or plumbing work looked. To me, this top to bottom assessment kept my lack of experience from falling in love with a money pit, or from getting a place I would not be happy with in the long run.
After viewing many homes, John had found a house and we had arranged to view it the first day it was on the market. I could hardly believe the house when I saw it with my own eyes. It was the exact image of what I was looking for. It had the features I had wanted. We made a couple of offers, to what my level of comfort was and what fit me financially. I was worried someone else might get my dream home before I could. However I was assured when John told me, "Alisha, if you don't get this house, I will find you another one." I knew he was telling the truth.
This happy story comes to an end when I tell you that I did get my dream house! Leaving home for the first time, my parents felt comfortable and happy with how things have been handled and John was able to help them understand things as well. To me, John is the ultimate House MatchMaker. He's like an interviewer that finds what you're looking for, will research all the possibilities, and will find a house to what best suits you, to your personality. Like some sort of dating website, but with houses!
I believe and see that John truly wants his customer to be happy and almost as an acrobat, he will bend backwards and do flips to work endlessly for them.
I have already referred John to my friends and co-workers. I would refer any person seeking an honest, hard working realtor to John Coffman Jr. Whether you are looking for your first house, or selling a house, I don't feel there is any challenge John won't take on to make sure it's done right, fair, and in your best interest.
